Last week we started sharing detailed information on how Bondora is managed and operated. We promised that over the coming months we’ll go in-depth across all areas relevant for our investors. Today we are looking at Bondora’s management structure, specifically the Management Board.
BOARD STRUCTURE
The articles of association of Bondora set out a two-tier management structure consisting of the Supervisory Board and the Management Board. In brief, the role of the Supervisory Board is to supervise certain activities of the Management Board in the best interest of Bondora and its shareholders and the role of the Management Board is to serve as the executive body of Bondora, with the authority to manage the business.
Bondora is managed by the Management Board. The Management Board comprises of two members, Pärtel Tomberg and Rein Ojavere. Details are set out below.
PÄRTEL TOMBERG (CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER)
Pärtel Tomberg is the founder and CEO of Bondora AS. Pärtel has built Bondora into a leading pan-European marketplace lender from a dorm room startup he co-founded in 2008. He has helped Bondora establish a new standard in marketplace lending by being first in a number of areas:
- first marketplace open to investors across Europe,
- first marketplace providing credit seamlessly across multiple countries,
- first rating system making loans across markets comparable,
- first marketplace open to accredited investors globally and
- first marketplace in Europe with a public API and granular performance data.
Pärtel was previously part of the Nordic, CEE and Baltic region management teams of Quelle AG and subsequently Halens AB. Both companies were selling fashion bundled with up to a 36 month instalment plan, making them one of the largest non-bank consumer lenders in their target markets. Pärtel holds a BA (summa cum laude) from the Oxford Brookes University.
REIN OJAVERE (CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER)
Rein Ojavere is the Chief Financial Officer, Management Board member and is responsible for all financial matters, from shareholder relations to company internal financial matters, at Bondora.
Rein is a seasoned finance and investment professional. Previously Head of Corporate Banking and Board Member of DNB Bank in Estonia, Partner and Head of Research at asset management company Northern Star (Limestone Investment Management), Fund Manager and Head of Research of Hansa Investment Funds. He has also held several positions in investment banking at Suprema. Rein holds a Master’s Degree in Economics and Business Administration from the University of Tartu and is a CFA Charterholder.
