đ Team: Compliance – Anti-Money Laundering
Maria joined Bondora in March 2020, when the Compliance – Anti-Money Laundering team was first created. During this time she’s learned a lot about AML rules and how to implement processes according to the law. She works alongside her supportive team lead, Karin and their team has recently grown as they’ve taken on additional tasks.
A typical day for Maria:
Some mornings start with a message from my team lead that she’s running a bit late đ Then the usual routine begins: we investigate and match incoming payments with the correct investor accounts, review pending ID documents, and thoroughly screen background checks and KYC Questionnaires. Our overall goal is to ensure that the money moving through Bondora is protected.
Whatâs the most rewarding part of your job?
To know that investors are satisfied with our service.

I strive to provide the best customer experience, so my favorite Bondora value is «Never be satisfied»!
If you could study anything again, what would you choose?
I would like to start playing the piano again. I havenât been practicing for ages, and it’s a current goal of mine.

What are some of your hobbies?
I love to do active sports such as snowboarding and riding a bike in my spare time. I also like to travel and explore new places. In July, my husband and I spent 4 days exploring the South of Estonia by bike. Going off of the beaten track is always an exciting adventure!
